The proposal of a model of determination of the exchange nominal rate, that derive from the portfolio balance model, and the use of an intervention index constructed for the Colombian case, allow to conclude that the interventions of the Banco de la República, for defending the regime of managed flotation, have had small and transitory effects in the level and the variance of the exchange nominal rate, presenting lags of several days and being discounted quickly by the marketintervenciones esterilizadas, régimen cambiario, flotación controlada, mercado cambiario, tipo de cambio, modelo de portafolio

SemTab 2019: Resources to Benchmark Tabular Data to Knowledge Graph Matching Systems
Tabular data to Knowledge Graph matching is the process of assigning semantic tags from knowledge graphs (e.g., Wikidata or DBpedia) to the elements of a table. This task is a challenging problem for various reasons, including the lack of metadata (e.g., table and column names), the noisiness, heterogeneity, incompleteness and ambiguity in the data. The results of this task provide significant insights about potentially highly valuable tabular data, as recent works have shown, enabling a new family of data analytics and data science applications. Despite significant amount of work on various flavors of this problem, there is a lack of a common framework to conduct a systematic evaluation of state-of-the-art systems. The creation of the Semantic Web Challenge on Tabular Data to Knowledge Graph Matching (SemTab) aims at filling this gap. In this paper, we report about the datasets, infrastructure and lessons learned from the first edition of the SemTab challenge
Novel computational protocol to support transfemoral prosthetic alignment procedure using machine learning techniques
The prosthetic alignment procedure considers biomechanical, anatomical and comfort characteristics of the amputee to achieve an acceptable gait. Prosthetic malalignment induces long-term disease. The assessment of alignment is highly variable and subjective to the experience of the prosthetist, so the use of machine learning could assist the prosthetist during the judgment of optimal alignment.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Genetics: Is LADA just late onset type 1 diabetes?
Background: There is a controversy regarding Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA) classification and whether it should be considered a slowly progressing form of type 1 (T1) diabetes (DM) or a distinct type of DM altogether.
Methods: This cross-sectional study assessed major genes associated with T1DM (class II
Results: A total of 578 participants were included: 248 with T1DM (70 diagnosed after the age of 30), 256 with T2DM and 74 with LADA. High risk HLA alleles were significantly more frequent in LADA than in T2DM, whereas the opposite was true for protective alleles. We found a lower frequency of the high-risk DRB1*04-DQB1*03:02-DQA1*03:01 haplotype in LADA (21.1%) than in the overall T1DM (34.7%) (p\u3c0.05), whereas no differences were found between these groups for DRB1*03-DQB1*02:01-DQA1*05:01 or for protective alleles. Only 12% the overall T1DM group had no risk alleles vs 30% of LADA (p\u3c0.0005). However, HLA allele distribution was similar in LADA and T1DM diagnosed after the age of 30. A total of 506 individuals (195 with T1DM [21 diagnosed after age 30] 253 with T2DM and 58 with LADA) were genotyped for the
Conclusion: In this relatively small cross-sectional study, the genetic profile of subjects with LADA showed a similar T1DM-related risk allele distribution as in participants with T1DM diagnosed after the age of 30, but fewer risk alleles than those diagnosed before 30. Differences were present for HLA, as well a
INTRODUCTION: Although the incidence of syphilis is generally low, it remains an important global public health problem, given its interaction with other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It has been shown that syphilis, due to the genital ulcers it produces, is a co-factor for acquiring other STDs, principally those of viral origin such as herpes simples type 2, hepatitis B and HIV. Many female commercial sex workers (FCSW) in Mexico have been found to have acquired good levels of knowledge about STD prevention. Nevertheless, they constitute a heterogeneous group in terms of socio-economic level, health status and type of work site; these factors in turn appear to determine their attitudes, knowledge and behavior related to acquiring and transmitting STDs, including syphilis. This study, therefore, focused on the factors associated with Treponema pallidum infection in this group of women. METHOD: Based on a sample frame of sites where female commercial sex work takes place within Mexico City, a sample of 807 FCSWs was selected; after providing informed consent, they completed a structured questionnaire. A blood sample for identifying serologic markers for STDs was collected and analyzed according to a procedure manual for STD diagnosis. Treponema pallidum was diagnosed using the RPR (Bigaux Diagnostica) screening test, and FTA - ABS (Pasteur Diagnostics) for confirmation. RESULTS: The prevalence of syphilis in this sample of FCSWs was 6.4% (52/807), and was higher among women who worked at street sites than among those who worked in massage parlors. The age of the women interviewed ranged from 17 to 58 years, with a mean of 29.2 years (SD 7.3 years); syphilis was more prevalent among women over 30 years of age. Age at first sexual intercourse ranged from 11 to 30 years, with a mean of 16 years (SD 3.1 years), which is similar to that of the general female population in Mexico. Predictive factors for T. pallidum infection, determined adjusted logistic regression, included: tupe of by work site (bar and street sites); socio-economic level (middle and low); age (over 30 years); duration of involvement in sex work (>; 5 years) and number of clients per week (>; 10). CONCLUSION: In spite of some limitations regarding statistical precision, this study shows that FCSWs are heterogeneous in terms of risk of acquiring STDs, including syphilis; the principal differentiating factor was shown to be the type of work site. Given that it is not belonging to a risk group but rather participating in risky practices that leads to acquiring STDs, situations that facilitate riskier or safer practices (such as type of sex work site, for sex workers) should be taken into account when studying people's risk level. STD prevention campaigns must also consider these factors, in addition to focusing on FCSWs and their clients and personal partners, so that all involved assume their responsibility for safer sex.INTRODUCCIÓN: Se ha demostrado que la sÃfilis, debido a la ulceración genital que produce, es un cofactor asociado para adquirir otras enfermedades de transmisión sexual (ETS), principalmente de origen viral como herpes tipo-2, hepatitis B, y el VIH.
Layered Software Architecture for Nanosatellites
Layered software architecture has been used to increase code portability and reduce development times during the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The main objective of the EMIDSS-4 project is to develop a reliable and scalable hardware and software layered architecture for data acquisition in nanosatellites. An iterative hardware/software co-design approach was employed, transitioning from an FPGA architecture to an NXP-based microcontroller. The results demonstrate that the new architecture provides continuous and adaptable data acquisition capabilities, enhancing the long-term viability of the project. In conclusion, this study contributes to the field of space exploration and lays the foundation for future research in nanosatellites.ITESO, A. C
